Archangel Michael Church (Kuchki Village, Penza Region)

Фото 1
The village of Kuchki consists of three former villages: Kazanskaya Andreevka, Kuchuk-Por-Arkhangelskoye, and Kuchuk-Por-Mikhaylovskoye, each of which had churches before the revolution. To this day, only the stone church in honor of Archangel Michael has survived, which was built in the village of Kuchuk-Por-Arkhangelskoye in 1865 thanks to the efforts of the provincial leader of the nobility, Ksenofont Pavlovich Gevlich. The architecture of this church represents a rare pseudo-Gothic style for the Penza region. The building has a rectangular shape, to which a semicircular altar is attached on the eastern side, and on the western side, a bell tower, of which only the first tier has survived. The church's design actively features pointed arches and niches characteristic of Gothic architecture.
