In the mid-19th century, there was a church in the village of Korsun dedicated to the Korsun Icon of the Mother of God. It was large and bright, with stained glass instead of windows, surrounded by an elegant wrought-iron fence and had a chapel of extraordinary beauty. Nearby was an estate owned by representatives of a famous Russian noble family connected to Tsar Boris Godunov. The owner of the estate, Vladimir Vladimirovich, was born on October 31, 1830, in St. Petersburg, graduated from the Imperial Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, and after receiving the rank of titular adviser, began his service in the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Despite his official duties, Vladimir Vladimirovich always remained loyal to the village of Korsun, visiting it during vacations or illnesses. It was here, in April 1858, that he married Anna Semyonovna from Oryol in the Korsun church. Their marriage was almost perfect, but happiness was overshadowed by the death of their daughter Pelagia, born the following year. Vladimir Vladimirovich buried his daughter near the church and built a beautiful chapel over her grave. After that, he preferred to spend his free time at his native estate, close to his wife and the memory of his daughter.

With the arrival of Soviet power, the estate gradually fell into decline, and during the Great Patriotic War, the manor and buildings were destroyed. The front line passed near Korsun for more than a year. The church and chapel were destroyed, and the park was cut down. For a long time, the site of the estate housed the Korsun secondary school.

On June 22, 2006, a site was consecrated for the construction of a new church, and on February 16, 2008, the church in honor of the Korsun Icon of the Mother of God was consecrated. Later, a bell tower was added, and bells were installed, filling the surroundings with joyful ringing.

On January 3, 2014, a baptismal font was opened at the spring in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring."

On March 9, 2014, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, it was decided to open a women's monastery of Saint Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. Nun Yaroslava (Verigina) was appointed as the abbess. On April 20, 2014, Archbishop Anthony of Oryol and Livny conducted the Paschal Vigil and appointed Nun Yaroslava as abbess, handing her the staff and encouraging her to continue the work of establishing the monastery.
