From 1858 to 1866, the local residents of Ploskoe, together with the zemstvo, built a stone church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The church was allocated 35 desyatins of land. In the early 20th century, the church had 709 parishioners, and a zemstvo school operated nearby. The construction was carried out by local residents and the zemstvo. There was a rule: no child or elder could pass by without bringing as many bricks as they could carry.

In 1933, the church was closed, and the priest was expelled. During the Great Patriotic War, the left wing of the Kazan church was damaged by a shell explosion. On the walls, adorned with biblical scenes, bullet marks remained until a recent restoration.

Later, the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Ploskoe was turned into a collective farm warehouse, and the building gradually fell into disrepair. Local residents dismantled the bell tower and used its bricks to build a garage for household needs.

Currently, the church has been fully restored and renovated. On November 4, 2004, Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the church.
