The church dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, with chapels in honor of Saints Boris and Gleb and Martyr Paraskeva Friday, was built in 1869 on the site of an old wooden church. Its construction was made possible by the efforts of Priest Isidor Likhachev and the funding from parishioners and the church clergy. It is known that the church housed a particularly venerated icon, the "Passion". The building was designed in the classical style and was located near a spring. In 1917, the parish had 1,493 parishioners. Two rural schools operated on the parish territory: one in Makovtsy, opened in 1870, and another in the village of Kozhukovo, founded in 1900. Priest M. A. Chuprov served as the law teacher in both schools. With the advent of Soviet power, the church was closed, and its interior decoration was destroyed. During the Great Patriotic War, the building suffered significant damage. In 2010, at the initiative of local residents and with the blessing of Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk, restoration work began. Divine services are already being held in the renovated church.
