The wooden church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Mother of God, was built in 1851. Its rector was Father Alexander Kosov, the father of confessor George Kosov, whose icon with a relic is now located in the Kazan church.

In the late 19th century, the number of parishioners ranged from 1800 to 2000 people, including 500 men and 1300-1500 women. In the early 20th century, a brick church was built on the site of the wooden one, to which a bell tower was later added. In 1911, it was consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This church is considered one of the most beautiful and ancient in the Zheleznogorsk district. 4 km from the church, in the village of Khlynino, there is a spring of the same name.

After the death of the rector, the Kazan church was closed in the post-war years. Until the 1990s, the building was used as a vegetable storage. In April 1993, the church reopened its doors to parishioners. By 1997, thanks to donations from believers, the roof was repaired, and a new iconostasis was created in the classic Rublev style by Moscow craftsmen.
