Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Mokraia Orlovka

Фото 1
The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Mokraia Orlovka was built in the 19th century, but it was dismantled in 1934 to use the materials for the construction of a school. In the early 2000s, church services began to be held again in this school building.

The appearance of the first church in this region significantly changed its fate. After the consecration of the church in the name of the Icon of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the mid-18th century, the local settlement of Gadyukino was renamed to Rozhdestvenskaya.

In 1866, a wooden church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was built in the village of Mokraia Orlovka, which became an important place for parishioners from Rozhdestvenskaya and Spodaryushina. Two schools operated at the church: a zemstvo school in the village and a church-parish school in the village of Spodaryushina. There was a house for the priest and deacon in the churchyard, and the church owned 36 desiatinas of land.

In the 1930s, the Kazan Church was dismantled, and its logs were used to build the local seven-year school.

Currently, part of the former school building has been converted into a church at the request of the parishioners, and since June 1, 2001, another part of the building houses a social rehabilitation center for war and labor veterans.

A children's Sunday school operates at the church.
