St. John the Baptist Church is located 80 kilometers east of Edmonton. It is already 30 years old, as it was completely rebuilt after a fire. The church is part of the Patriarchal Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Canada.

Originally, the church was built in 1922-1923 by emigrants from Galicia and Bukovina. The church was consecrated on July 7, 1927, on the feast day of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.

In 1974, the 77th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Canada was celebrated here, led by Bishop Makary (Svistun), who managed the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada.

The new church building has existed for thirty years, as the church was completely rebuilt after the fire. On July 24, 2001, the 104th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Canada was celebrated in the church, led by Archbishop Mark (Petrovtsy).

In 2012, the church celebrated its 95th anniversary since its founding, with the festivities led by Bishop Ioann of Kashira, who manages the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada.

Since 2018, the parish of the church has been overseen by Archpriest Evgeny Protsenko. Currently, the congregation is small, and services are held several times a year. The Moldovan Orthodox community of Edmonton also conducts services here several times a year.
