The history of the church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' in the village of Muravlevo is closely linked to the past of the Epiphany Church in the village of Bogoyavlenka (the village of Demino) in the Kursk district of the Kursk province. In the village of Demino, there was originally a wooden church of the Epiphany of the Lord, and in 1755, a stone church with three altars was built in its place.

In the 1840s, the construction of a wooden church in honor of the Mother of God began in the village of Muravlevo (also known as Zorina). However, for a long time, there was uncertainty about which icon to dedicate this church to. In 19th-century documents, it is referred to as the Theotokos Church, and only by the end of the century did it become known as the Sorrowful Church. The Theotokos Church in Muravlevo was attached to the Epiphany Church in Demino, as the priest for services and teaching in the church parish school came from there. The church was built on donations and the efforts of local peasants.

From the late 19th century, the Theotokos Church in Muravlevo (Zorina) became independent, and the rector regularly served in the church and taught in the church parish school. From this time, the church became known as the church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow.' The parish was small and included several villages. Once a year, 100 rubles were allocated from the state treasury for the maintenance of the clergy of the Sorrowful Church.

In the 1930s, the Sorrowful Church was closed and dismantled, with the logs used for the construction of a collective farm house. In 1944, a community of believers consisting of 20 people was registered in the village of Zorino in the Besedinsky district of the Kursk region. They rented a residential house and opened a prayer house in it, where services were held under the supervision of the Commissioner for the Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. In 1961, the prayer house in Zorino was closed, and church property was confiscated by the decision of the Besedinsky district council and transferred to the Znamensky Church in the village of Kolodnoye.

In 2008, the construction of a new church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' began near the site of the destroyed Sorrowful Church in the village of Muravlevo. In 2010, the church was opened, and services continue to this day.
