The church, dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God of the Seven Arrows, was built over several years, from 2006 to 2007. The architect envisioned seven pointed arches and seven facets, symbolizing the number of arrows that pierced the Virgin Mary.

This icon is known as 'Softener of Evil Hearts.' It is unknown where and how this image originated, but it has become especially revered in the Caucasus, torn apart by enmity.
