On July 30, 2015, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Bryansk and Sevsk, the cornerstone for the future church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Milk-Giver' was consecrated. On January 15, 2016, a cross for the baptismal church was consecrated on the grounds of the under-construction church, located near the Bryansk Regional Hospital for War Veterans. This church is planned to conduct the Sacraments of Baptism and Sunday school classes. The parish of the new church consists of patients from the hospital, residents of the hospital town, and the surrounding areas.

Originally, the Icon of the Mother of God 'Milk-Giver' was located in the Lavra of St. Savva the Sanctified, situated 18 versts from Jerusalem. The holy founder of this unique lavra in the East predicted that in the future, a royal pilgrim from Serbia with the same name would visit the lavra, and that the miraculous icon would be given to him as a blessing. St. Savva peacefully departed to the Lord in the 6th century, and his prophecy was fulfilled more than six centuries later, when in the 13th century, St. Savva of Serbia arrived in Palestine. He was given the prophetic testament, and the lavra blessed him with the Icon of the Mother of God 'Milk-Giver'. On his return to Serbia, St. Savva entrusted the icon to his Hilandar Monastery. Notably, contrary to tradition, this icon was placed by St. Savva in the iconostasis not to the left of the royal gates, but to the right, where the icon of the Holy Trinity or the Savior is usually located. The image of the Lord Almighty was placed on the left, where the icon of the Mother of God is typically positioned.
