According to legend, once an old man and his grandson were walking through the forest and decided to drink water from a local spring. When they descended to the source, they noticed a small icon in the water. They tried to retrieve it but could not, so they went to the village and told the priest about their find.

The priest gathered the parishioners, and together they went to the spring. After a prayer service, they tried again to retrieve the icon, but the adults were unsuccessful; it was only the boy who found it who managed to pull it out. Late in the evening, the icon was taken to the church, but in the morning it disappeared and was found again in the water of the spring. They then decided to build a chapel and arrange the well at that place, which was done. The spring became revered, and many received healing there.

With the arrival of Soviet power during the years of turmoil, the chapel and the well were dismantled, and the spring was filled in. Believers repeatedly dug up the source, but the authorities ordered it to be filled in again.

Only in the 1990s was the source restored, and the surrounding area improved. A chapel of Saint Great Martyr Panteleimon the Healer was built, which was consecrated by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol.
