Previously, this church was located in the territory of the Uglich district until 1917 and was known as the "Church of the village of Sigori." It was built in 1790 and had two altars: the Epiphany of the Lord and Saints Cosmas and Damian. The parish included 17 settlements, among which were Kolokarevo, located by the pond, Petukhovo and Dreplevo on the Sable River, as well as Matveevka, Goritsy, Gorbanovo, Ramenye, Stanislavka, Orbitievo, Putchino on the Sable River, Grigorovo, Pankovo, Kormolikha, Pochinki, Vysokusha, Gorbantsevo, and Ovinzevo. Andrei Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, born on March 15 (27), 1825, and died on March 7 (19), 1897, was an architect and memoirist, the younger brother of the famous writer F. M. Dostoevsky. On August 4, 1865, he was appointed the provincial architect of Yaroslavl. In 1867, he was invited to oversee the expansion works of the Winter Church of the Epiphany of the Lord and Saints Cosmas and Damian in the village of Sigori in the Uglich district. At that time, northern and southern chapels were added to the church, and a bell tower in the classical style was erected.
