The parish was registered in 1998. The construction of the temple of Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow began in 2000 at the intersection of Razdolnaya and Metallurgov streets in the Severny district of Oryol. The work was carried out with the blessing of Archbishop Paisiy of Oryol and Livensky under the guidance of Priest Igor Gapanenko.
Schema-Archimandrite Iliya (Nozdrin) attracted benefactors from the Moscow fund "Glas," who partially financed the project until 2006. Then, Priest Maxim Smolyakov continued the construction from 2006 to 2011.
From 2008, the temple was built with funds raised through donations from benefactors and parishioners. In the same year, a cross was installed on the dome.
From 2011 to 2019, the rector of the temple was Priest Sergey Sharga. During his tenure, the interior of the temple and the adjacent territory were improved, the facade was painted white, and the narthex and part of the altar apse were decorated. The first service in the temple took place on September 16, 2012.
On March 6, 2016, Metropolitan Antony of Oryol and Bolkhov, together with Bishop Nectarios of Livensky and Maloarkhangelsky, conducted the Rite of Great Consecration of the temple of Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow and the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated temple.
