On May 2, 2015, on the day of remembrance of Blessed Matrona of Moscow, Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk consecrated two altars of the new temple, built in honor of Blessed Matrona of Moscow and Xenia of St. Petersburg in the "Zarya" microdistrict of Kursk, and conducted a Divine Liturgy.

The history of the temple began with the creation and registration of the parish in 1998 in honor of Saint Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg. In August 2014, it was decided to consecrate the temple in honor of both blessed ones, Matrona of Moscow and Xenia of St. Petersburg.

On August 5, 2014, Metropolitan German conducted the rite of consecration of the cornerstone of the temple. Thanks to the support of benefactors and parishioners, the construction was completed in a short time, and by the blessing of Metropolitan German, services began in the temple on the eve of the Nativity of Christ.

A year after the consecration of the temple, Kursk entrepreneur Alexey Nikolaevich Naumov, the benefactor of the temple, gifted the parish a velvet shoe of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous. This shoe was brought from the Greek island of Corfu, where the incorrupt relics of the saint are located.
