Until 1997, the building belonged to "Promstroybank," which transferred it free of charge to the Archangel and Kholmogory Diocese. This happened after residents of the Maymaksan district appealed to Bishop Tikhon with a request to build a parish. The idea was supported by the head of the district.

The temple project was developed by Archangel architect V.L. Nikitin. Local business leaders united around this idea, each contributing their part.

On February 6, 2001, Bishop Tikhon of Archangel and Kholmogory held the first service in the building temple. In 2002, a prayer room was arranged on the first floor of the building, and regular services began.

The construction of the temple lasted more than six years with the participation of numerous benefactors and helpers, from business leaders and the head of the district to workers, retirees, and schoolchildren. Many residents of the village of Maymaksa contributed to the construction of the church.

The consecration of the temple of Saint Blessed Ksenia of Petersburg took place on February 6, 2004. After the consecration and Divine Liturgy, Bishop Tikhon presented tokens of gratitude to those who helped with the construction.

Today, the Temple of Saint Blessed Ksenia of Petersburg is the main attraction of the Maymaksan district. Its interior is impressive: icons created by northern masters Sergey Egorov, Igor Lapin, and Sergey Zaitsev adorn the walls. The iconostasis and kiots are decorated with wood carvings. The eastern and western walls of the temple are adorned with images of the Holy Trinity and Blessed Ksenia of Petersburg. A Sunday school operates at the temple.
