The Annunciation Cathedral in Volokno

Фото 1
The Annunciation Cathedral was built in the early 20th century, between 1906 and 1907. Next to the cathedral was a utility building of 300 square meters, which housed the church parish school. This building was constructed before the cathedral itself and was used as a dormitory for the builders.

In the 1920s, the cathedral was destroyed by persecutors of the Orthodox Church; however, the utility building remained and was repurposed as the Gutovo Secondary School. At that time, the village of Gutovo was located in the Kursk district. In 1994, by the decision of the Department of Education, the building was transferred to the ownership of the Kursk Diocese and transformed into a church.
