The Church of Cosmas and Damian is located in the eastern part of the village of Benitsy in the Borovsky District of the Kaluga Region, near the central road. Built in 1812, it is designed in the Baroque style, although the author of the project remains unknown. During the Soviet era, the church building was partially destroyed. The village of Benitsy, one of the oldest settlements in the district, was first mentioned in 1150 in a charter by the Smolensk prince Rostislav Mstislavovich. It is situated in a picturesque area on the right bank of the Protva River and was considered to be dying until recently.

Since 1999, local residents have begun restoring the Church of Cosmas and Damian, coinciding with the start of land allocation for summer cottages, which revitalized life in the village. Architect V.Ya. Kuznetsov developed a restoration plan based on scant information about the church, including its dimensions and interior decoration. Funds for the restoration were collected from residents of nearby villages.

As of today, windows and doors have been installed in the church, and both interior and exterior plastering work has been completed. The snow-white church with a shining cross adorns the center of the village, but there is still much work ahead to restore the interior decoration and to build a bell tower. The church has not yet been transferred to the Kaluga Diocese, and services are held here very rarely.
