In 1844, a church in honor of the Archangel Michael was built in the suburban settlement of Pushkarnaya with funds from merchant Mikhail Konstantinovich Machurin and parishioners.

The stone building with a bell tower, designed in the classical style, is protected by the state as a monument of provincial church architecture from the mid-19th century. The St. Michael's Church in Belgorod has two altars: in honor of the Archangel Michael and the venerable martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna Romanova. At the beginning of the 20th century, the church had 1855 parishioners and also hosted a church school.

During the times of persecution, the St. Michael's Church in Belgorod remained open, which is why it has survived. The 19th-century iconostasis has also survived to this day.
