Bizerte, the largest port in Tunisia, is known as the last refuge for dozens of ships that left Crimea with Wrangel's army. In the early years after their arrival, many emigrants continued to live on the ships. Some died, others moved to more civilized places, while some remained. After a few years, a church was established on one of the ships, which was moved to the shore by the 1930s. It is now located near the golf club, not far from the Bizerte train station.

The church is operational but only opens during services; it is closed at other times. Behind the gates with St. George's crosses lies the battle standard of one of the ships.

After Tunisia gained independence, most Russian emigrants left the country, with only a few remaining. By the 1990s, they were joined by migrants from former Soviet republics, including Russians, Belarusians, and Ukrainians. Currently, only a few dozen of our former compatriots live in Bizerte. One of the last witnesses of the evacuation from Crimea was Anastasia Shirinskaya-Manstein, the daughter of the captain of the destroyer 'Zharkiy.' She received a Nansen passport in Tunisia and lived with it her entire life. She passed away in 2009, and a couple of years later, a small square where the Russian church is located was renamed in her honor. Nearby is her house, which enthusiasts have turned into a museum.
