On the right bank of the Desna River stands a rare rotunda church for the Bryansk region. From its height, beautiful views of the surroundings open up. The church was built on the highest point of the village. In ancient times, there was no church in Chernetsovo; it was located in the neighboring village of Betovo. These two villages were closely situated and formed one parish, known since the late 16th century. Originally, a wooden church in honor of the first martyr Archdeacon Stephen was located in Betovo. By the early 19th century, it had fallen into disrepair and was dismantled. At that time, a stone church in honor of the Akhtyrskaya Icon of the Mother of God was built in Chernetsovo. A chapel was erected on the site of the dismantled church in Betovo, and a cemetery was arranged. The church in Chernetsovo was built with the funds of landowner Anastasia Nikolaevna Nadarzhinskaya, the aunt of F. I. Tyutchev. A bell tower was erected next to the church. The consecration took place in 1805. With the advent of Soviet power, the church, like many others, passed into state ownership, which seized its main values under the pretext of helping the starving and strengthening the economy. Services in Chernetsovo continued until the late 1920s, but soon the church was officially closed. The building was used for economic purposes, and in the 1930s, the bell tower was dismantled for bricks.

In 2005, a parish community was reestablished in the village, and a priest was appointed to the church. Restoration work was carried out, and now the church is fully restored. This is a unique architectural monument of the Bryansk region, a manor church of mature classicism, distinguished by its monumentality and conciseness of forms. It belongs to the rare type of large domed rotundas with four rounded niches-eskedras, decorated with columns. The interior space of the church is cross-shaped due to the four semicircular niches-eskedras, effectively adorned with paired columns. The eastern niche serves as the altar, while the others contain entrances. The composition of the church, crowned with a spherical dome, is simple and expressive. The cylindrical volume is topped with a low dome. Architectural details include simplified capitals of the columns, a simple cornice, and narrow windows with semicircular finishes. The church has preserved unique frescoes created in 1912 by artist A. M. Muravyov. He followed the traditions of late classicism in a naive interpretation, using dark muted tones. The iconography of the frescoes includes gospel compositions and images of saints. The dome features a New Testament “Trinity” surrounded by archangels. On the walls of the northern and partially southern niches are scenes of the “Passion of Christ,” including the expressive “Scourging of Christ.” In the western niche are “Compassion,” “The Mother of God with Attendants,” and images of saints. Between the niches under the round windows are depictions of the evangelists.
