Guards Crimean Military Memorial for Fallen in the Crimean War

Фото 1
The Guards Crimean Military Memorial, dedicated to those who perished in the Crimean War, is a second-degree monument. It was established in 1861, immediately after the war ended. Next to the memorial stands a statue dedicated to Sidney Herbert, 1st Baron Herbert of Lea, who served as the military secretary during the Crimean War. His mother, Countess Ekaterina Vorontsova, was a Russian noblewoman and the daughter of Semyon Romanovich Vorontsov, the Russian ambassador in St. James's. The Vorontsov Road in the St. John's Wood area of London is named in honor of this family.
