Lidia Ivanovna Goulesco, known as Lida Goulesco, was born in 1917 in St. Petersburg and became a renowned performer of songs and gypsy romances. Her father, Jean Goulesco, was a famous Romanian violinist who enjoyed the favor of the Russian emperor. After the revolution, the family emigrated, first settling in Constantinople and then moving to Paris. There, Jean began performing in restaurants and cabarets, where Valya Dmitrievich and Volodya Polyakov also performed. It was in this atmosphere that Lida learned to sing and dance.

At 17, her expressive voice caught the attention of the owner of one of the Parisian cabarets, which brought her success and wide recognition. Lidia toured cities such as New York, London, and Rome. In 1955, she acquired the cabaret 'Palata,' where she performed alongside singer Dmitry Usov. Lidia's last concert took place in London at a reception for a Turkish princess. She passed away after a long and serious illness and was buried in Paris.
