Gothic architecture emerged in Europe in the 12th century, characterized by complex forms, richly decorated facades, and pointed decorative elements. In Penza, a similar structure can be seen at Slavy Street, 8.

This house was built in the early 19th century and originally was a wooden three-room cottage. It had no architectural value, but for its owner, former serf Andrei Antonov, it was the pinnacle of dreams. Later, he successfully sold the house, and over several decades, it changed hands many times. In the late 19th century, the building was acquired by merchant Vasily Vorozheikin, who radically rebuilt it, adding Gothic motifs that are rare for Penza. The roof is now adorned with sharp half-towers with wrought iron railings, and the facade features strict rectangular lines. It is likely that the entrepreneur was a fan of medieval history and its architecture. According to old documents, the house was valued at 4,200 rubles, which today is equivalent to almost 4.5 million.

There was another building in a similar style in Penza, a Catholic church on Volodarsky Street. However, its towers were long demolished, and during the Soviet era, it housed the House of Teachers.
