The State Museum of Literature, Art, and Culture of Altai (GMILIKA) is one of the key museums in the Altai Krai. Its collection houses personal archives of well-known figures such as Vasily Shukshin, Georgy Grebenshchikov, and Nikolai Roerich, whose activities were connected to Altai.

The museum was founded in 1989 and has been located in a noble estate from the late 19th and early 20th centuries since 1991. The house originally belonged to E. L. Alarovsky, a gold mine owner, and later became the property of E. Sudovskaya, the owner of breweries in Biysk and Barnaul. In the 20th century, the building was used for government institutions, including the Regional Court.

The museum has several branches: the museum of actress E. F. Savinova in the village of Yeltsovka, the museum of Robert Rozhdestvensky in the village of Kosikha, and the museum of Valery Zolotukhin in the village of Bystroye Istok.

The museum features 12 halls dedicated to various eras of cultural development in Altai, from Scythian burials to modern times.

On the first floor, the following exhibitions are presented:

The exhibition "From Heart to Heart. From the GMILIKA Postcard Collection" includes over six thousand vintage postcards reflecting the culture and everyday life of different eras.

The exhibition "From the History of Enlightenment in Altai. Late 18th Century to Early 20th Century" introduces original documents, books, and photographs from the museum's collections.

The exhibition "The Plasticity of the Performance. The Creativity of Altai Stage Designers" reveals the secrets of theatrical artists' work, showcasing costume and set design sketches.

The exhibition "Altai in Domestic Cinematic Art" tells about the development of cinema in the region and famous directors and actors associated with Altai.

The exhibition "Musical Culture of Barnaul. Late 18th Century to Early 21st Century" displays musical instruments and documents related to the history of the region's musical culture.

The exhibition "From the History of Orthodoxy in Altai. 17th, 20th Century" introduces the Altai Spiritual Mission and Russian icons.

The exhibition "The Playful Hut. Everyday Life and Holidays of the Russian Home" recreates the atmosphere of an ancient hut, telling about the everyday life and traditions of ancient Rus.

On the second floor, the following exhibitions are presented:

The exhibition "White Hall, World of Arts" with a colonnade in the Doric style, where balls and historical reconstructions take place.

The exhibition "Altai, the Greatest Estate in Light. From the History of Culture of the Altai Mountain District in the Late 18th to Early 20th Century" is dedicated to the history of mining and the life of the city.

The exhibition "Literary Heritage of Altai from the Late 19th to Early 21st Century" presents unique manuscripts and personal belongings of outstanding literary figures.

The exhibition "Figures of World Culture in Altai. G. D. Grebenshchikov. N. K. Roerich" is dedicated to the life and work of famous compatriots.

The exhibition "Culture of Ancient Peoples of Altai" showcases artifacts from the Pazyryk burial mounds and tells about the life of ancient peoples.

The exhibition complex "From the History of GMILIKA" narrates the establishment of the museum and its first director, Tamara Ivanovna Varaksina.
