The exhibition hall was founded in 2000 as part of the Gelendzhik Historical and Local Lore Museum. In 2009, by the decision of the Gelendzhik administration, it became a municipal autonomous institution called the "City Exhibition Hall."

This hall is located in the historical part of the resort city, at the center of its administrative, business, and cultural life, on "Platanovaya Alley" at 16 Ostrovskogo Street.

The exhibitions occupy an area of about 200 square meters, allowing for the display of 130 to 180 works of painting, as well as works by masters of decorative and applied arts and sculpture.

When planning exhibitions, a balance is maintained between professional and amateur associations. The hall provides space for reporting exhibitions of children's art schools, art clubs in schools and kindergartens, as well as for art associations at cultural centers and clubs.

In Gelendzhik, a certain cycle of cultural events has developed. In addition to state holidays, annual events include the opening of the resort season, a carnival, "The Sun Smiles at Gelendzhik," a unique water carnival in Russia, "At the Equator of the Resort Season," City Day, and "Connected with You by a Single Fate." Festivals, competitions, cultural actions, and exhibitions of regional, federal, and international levels are organized within the municipal area. All this creates a unique atmosphere of a "city of celebration," which is important for the attractiveness of the resort and its positive image. The MAU "City Exhibition Hall" also focuses on these events.

This allows for the creation of exhibition projects based on local artistic resources, as well as attracting leading artists from Krasnodar Krai and Russia. The main tasks of the exhibition hall are to promote the development of the creative potential of the city's artists, popularize the art of Krasnodar Krai and Russia, develop international cultural ties, and cultivate artistic taste and creative thinking among viewers, especially the youth.

The exhibition hall organizes various projects with legal entities and private collectors, maintains creative contacts with museums and private galleries, and invites potential partners to collaborate on new artistic projects, traveling, personal, and commercial exhibitions, as well as conducting presentations and cultural programs.
