Despite the official name of the cultural heritage site of federal significance "Vorontsov-Dashkov Estate: house, 18th, 19th centuries with ceiling painting, white stone gates, late 18th century," some researchers believe that information about the existence of the estate of the Vorontsov counts here in the late 18th century is merely a legend. According to archival data, in the 18th and 19th centuries, the city estate belonged to various merchants and townspeople who were not widely known.

The architecture of this estate is highly valued by specialists. Its owners sought to compete with the best noble mansions in Moscow and succeeded. The first thing that attracts attention in the estate ensemble is the unique street fence of the main courtyard in the late 18th-century classicism style. The gates have a rare shape with double columns on the sides and decorative vases on top.

The stone houses at Vorontsovskaya Street, 4 and 6, were built around the late 18th century. The right, main house is based on 17th-century chambers that have been preserved in the basement and partially on the first floor. In the first half of the 18th century, the house was rebuilt and decorated in the baroque style, and restorers restored the baroque window frames on the western facade.

The layout of the estate was formed by 1774, when the owner was the wife of the manufacturer Alexei Ivanov. The main house was extended to the street line, a two-story stone wing was built opposite it, and a wooden shed with a stable and cellar was placed between them. The estate garden reached the street Bolshie Kamenshchiki. This layout remained until 1816, when the wing and the main house received identical mezzanines.

In the 1830s, the main house was completely rebuilt, but the decorative facade finishing has survived to this day. Today, one can see six Ionic order pilasters and a restored 18th-century staircase. In the ceremonial enfilade, the stucco cornices and ceiling paintings of that time have been preserved. The exterior of the building has an Empire style with heavy fan-shaped locks above the windows of the lower rusticated floor, complex sandriks, and abundant stucco decor.

The estate wing, located to the left of the main house, underwent significant changes: in 1912, it was rebuilt for a city school according to the design of architect N.D. Strukov.
