In 1874, architect A.S. Kaminsky reconstructed a small house in Byzantine style from an old mansion for Vasily Mikhailovich Bostandzhoglo, a first-guild merchant and member of the Moscow City Duma. The backyard of this property adjoins the estate of his sister, Yelizaveta Mikhailovna Alexeyeva (Bostandzhoglo). Vasily Mikhailovich moved here from Stara Basmannaya to be closer to his sister. Their family descends from the Nizhyn Greek Mikhail Bostandzhoglo, who owned a tobacco plantation and factory on Stara Basmannaya. Their childhood was spent in a large and close-knit family. Vasily Mikhailovich and his brother founded the Trading House 'M.I. Bostandzhoglo and Sons', opening tobacco shops in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Contemporaries considered Vasily Mikhailovich vain, which caused dislike in the merchant community. Entrepreneur Naydenov noted that he was willing to sacrifice much for the sake of an order. He could often be found in the reception of the Moscow governor-general Prince V.A. Dolgorukov. In 1875, Bostandzhoglo organized a celebration for the eighth anniversary of his service as a merchant elder, on the occasion of which a brochure was published with gratitude from the Moscow Merchant Society.

That same year, Vasily Mikhailovich fell ill and went abroad for treatment. During this time, Emperor Alexander II visited Moscow, awarding local figures with orders. Bostandzhoglo, being absent, did not receive the award, which greatly upset him. However, through Prince Dolgorukov, he managed to obtain the order, which was delivered to him abroad. Despite his poor health, he immediately took a photo in uniform with the new award.

The two-story house retains the rustication of the first floor, while the second is adorned with large semi-oval windows. The entrance is located on the left, above it is a window with a pediment and above that, an attic on the roof.
