The estate existed on this site as early as the 18th century, but the charming house was built for N.N. Maltseva in 1820 after the Moscow fire. In 1879, architect N.S. Zubatov carried out its reconstruction. The modern appearance of the house was acquired in the early 20th century when it became the property of merchant Mitrofan Samoilovich Romanov, known as the owner of the income house "Romanovka" at the corner of Tverskoy Boulevard and Malaya Bronnaya Street.

The facade of the building is richly decorated with stucco, giving it an almost lace-like appearance. The side parts of the facade are adorned with rusticated pilasters. The house has eight windows, which is uncharacteristic for classicism. The central part of the facade is highlighted by two windows with arched pediments, and on either side of them are windows with triangular pediments. Two pairs of side windows are decorated with sandriks with semicircular niches, which house lion masks with garlands in their mouths. The facade features all types of window pediments popular in Moscow in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The pilasters are topped with Ionic capitals adorned with garlands. Instead of a central pilaster under the cornice, there is a small lion mask guarding the peace of the residents. The cornice is decorated with volutes and garlands. The main decorative element of the facade is the garlands, which are repeated in the cornice, window casings, and window sill panels. Previously, the house had a small semicircular attic with a cartouche, but it was lost during the last renovation.

Since the 1910s, the house has been owned by Vasily Vasilyevich Petrov.
