In the early 18th century, the area between the modern Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya Street and Vspolny Lane was a wasteland. By the end of the 18th century, wooden buildings emerged here, which were completely destroyed by fire in 1812. In 1857, on the site of the burned estate along Georgievsky Lane (the name of Vspolny Lane until 1922), Ekaterina Pavlovna, daughter of the famous actor of the Maly Theater P. S. Mochalov, built a two-story residential house with a wooden second floor and an attic.

In 1891, the new owner, peasant V. I. Fomichev, added a two-story stone wing to the main house from the courtyard side and stone stables at the back of the yard. From 1906 to 1910, thanks to the efforts of Maria Sergeyevna, wife of college assessor and co-owner of the trading house 'Malich, Yusem and Sidorov' V. G. Malich, the estate was reconstructed. The street facade acquired a new appearance in the style of late classicism: the center of the facade is highlighted by a four-column portico with a bracketed cornice, between the half-columns of the Corinthian order are three relief panels with ancient themes, and the side parts are decorated with stucco garlands. It is presumed that the reconstruction was carried out by architect I. V. Zholtovsky. At the same time, a stone two-story wing appeared, facing the street line of the lane, the facade of which combines elements of classical and Gothic decor. The main house and the wing were connected by a fence on stone pillars with gates, which was later lost.

In the early 20th century, the mansion was partially rented out. After the revolution, the last owner, M. S. Malich, emigrated to France with her daughters Elizabeth and Olga. During the Soviet era, the building was initially used as communal apartments, then for administrative purposes. In the 1980s, the wing was reconstructed and adapted for a theater hall, while the historical interiors of both buildings were completely lost. In 1993, the facades of the wing were restored, and in the 2000s, the main house was restored. Currently, office spaces in the main mansion are rented out, while the wing houses the theater 'Na Doskach.'
