The building, erected in 1904-1905 for A.V. Markin according to the design of architect P.V. Kharko, is considered his most successful creation. Executed in the Art Nouveau style, it is richly decorated with stucco featuring images of flowers, flexible stems, and female masks with flowing hair. The main entrance, located on Vadkovsky Lane, is designed as a porch, above which on the second floor is a balcony with a cast-iron railing. A triple bricked window catches the eye from Tikhvinskaya Street. The building is bordered by a stone fence with a cast-iron grille, designed in the Art Nouveau style. The courtyard facades of the house are significantly more modest than the street ones.

Since 2010, this building has housed the Vatican embassy, the representation of the Holy See. In 2012, it was recognized as a cultural heritage site of regional significance.
