The first known master plan of the estate dates back to 1802, when it was owned by A.A. Dolgorukova. The 1809 plan shows a two-story T-shaped mansion on the site of the modern building No. 57 (structure 1). This house burned down in the 1812 fire but was restored in 1817 by the new owner, second lieutenant Alexei Kondratievich Koptsev. By that time, the territory of the house had separated from the estate into a separate property, facing Povarskaya and Bolshaya Nikitskaya streets, as well as Kudrinskaya Square.

The house was a two-story building with single-story wings on the sides. According to an archival drawing from 1834, the facades were designed in the Empire style.

Subsequently, the building was repeatedly reconstructed, changing both its spatial layout and exterior appearance. Under owner P.B. Golitsyn, in 1842-1843, the facade of the mansion was completely redesigned in a style close to the neoclassicism of K. Shinkel. This stage of the building's history is preserved in the courtyard facade, in the design of carpentry elements, parquet, and other details.

In 1862, Major General Alexander Borisovich Kazakov conducted a reconstruction of the building, increasing its length with stone extensions. Otherwise, the house retained the forms of the 1840s. The 1862 master plan shows a proposed bay window in the center of the courtyard facade. An analysis of the interiors allows us to attribute the ceiling of the Grand Living Room and fragments of other ceremonial halls to this period.

The last pre-revolutionary reconstruction was carried out in 1899-1900 by Kazakov's daughter, Nadezhda Alexandrovna Meindorf, according to the project of architect A.V. Flodin. As a result, the finishing of the main facade was changed, giving it a modern appearance.

The changes in the building's appearance over different periods, using styles such as Empire, neoclassicism, eclecticism, and Art Nouveau, created a typical Moscow mansion with a variety of styles and solutions.

In 2011, the restoration of the main house began. The work carried out from 2011 to 2015 brought the exterior and interior of the house as close as possible to the period of the 1900s. The finishing of the facades and interiors was completed, including the characteristic bronze 'highlighting' of the stucco typical of the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Door fillings and stained glass were repaired, parquet floors were replaced, and tiled stoves were restored. The painting of the ceilings and the stencil finishing of the walls in the Grand Living Room were cleaned and updated. In the coffered ceilings, elements made of particleboard were replaced with wooden ones. The finishing of the ceremonial staircase was redone, and the lost cast-iron stairs were recreated. The vestibule floor, originally laid with marble mosaics, was restored in full accordance with the original. Wallpapers were also recreated in several ceremonial rooms.

In 2015, the main house of the urban estate became a laureate of the 'Moscow Restoration' competition in the categories 'For the Best Restoration Project' and 'For High Quality of Repair and Restoration Work.'
