On the corner of Malaya Ordynka and Pyatnitskaya streets stands an elegant building, where in the early 20th century the women's gymnasium of Maria Vasilyevna Priklonskaya was opened. Although the gymnasium was private, it had all the rights of a state gymnasium of the Ministry of Public Education.

The gymnasium had two preparatory departments, seven main classes, and one pedagogical class. There was also a boarding house and a kindergarten for girls and boys. The chairman of the Board of Trustees was Maria Vasilyevna's husband, Alexander Alexandrovich Priklonsky.

The building of the gymnasium, designed in the style of rational modernism with elements of neoclassicism, was built in 1911 according to the project of the famous architect Vladimir Vladimirovich Sherwood, who constructed many buildings in pre-revolutionary Moscow. Among his works are the Trading House of E. A. and E. Armand on Old Square and the apartment building of the Moscow Merchant Society on Pokrovka.

The facades of the gymnasium on Pyatnitskaya street are characterized by their simplicity, with the main decoration of the building being the rhythm of the windows. The second and third floors are distinguished by semicircular windows, with the third floor having larger windows located in the central part of the building, where the assembly hall was situated. The fourth floor is adorned with a band of elongated rectangular windows, which adds elegance to the building. The entrances to the gymnasium and kindergarten were located on different facades.

The internal layout of the building met the modern requirements for educational institutions of the early century. Spacious corridors, bright classrooms, and elegant finishes created a comfortable atmosphere for learning.

After the revolution, the building housed courses in ancient and modern languages, and later a factory-school for seven years at the First Exemplary Printing House.

In July 1941, units of the 17th People's Militia Division were formed here, which later became the 17th Rifle Bobruisk Red Banner Division, reaching East Prussia.

In the 1990s, the building of the former Priklonskaya gymnasium was reconstructed, and now it houses a bank, retaining traces of recent euro-renovation.
