The guiding lighthouse in Gelendzhik was built on August 19, 1897, as confirmed by a plaque on its gate. The project was developed by Joseph François de Tonde. Since then, the lighthouse has been operating without changes to its equipment, although one small detail has been replaced. In 1927, the kerosene lamp of the lighthouse was replaced with an electric one.
