We often talk about amazing places connected to the history of the Russian people. Yulia, the author, who is on the same path, shares with us her post and photos about a place in Yekaterinburg associated with the Romanov family.

Yekaterinburg became the last refuge of the Romanovs, the site of tragedy where the story of the royal family ended. On the night of July 17, 1918, the royal family along with their servants were killed in the basement of the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg. That same night, the bodies of the emperor and his family were transported to Ganina Yama. The remains were thrown into an abandoned mine, and after some time, they were exhumed, dismembered, and destroyed in sulfuric acid.

This is a very grim story. You can learn more details by taking a tour to Ganina Yama. A monastery was recently built here. Personally, I left with heavy impressions after my visit, and I will not go there again.

By the way, a huge church was erected at the site of the family's execution in Yekaterinburg.
