Nikolai Lvovich Galsky was twice elected as the head of the county nobility, chaired the county zemstvo assembly, and was the chairman of the county school council. In 1900, he married Maria Alexeyevna Shitova, the daughter of the well-known St. Petersburg merchant of the first guild, Alexey Trofimovich Shitov. Maria graduated from the Alexandrovsky Institute in St. Petersburg in 1890. After the wedding, she moved to the estate "Gorka," where she and Nikolai had four children: two sons who died in infancy, and two daughters, Anastasia (1904, 1967) and Maria (1914, 1992). Nikolai Lvovich maintained a close relationship with his younger sister Maria, who, being married to N.N. Yanishev, often visited "Gorka" with her children. All five of her sons graduated from the 2nd Cadet Corps and then military schools. They served Russia honorably, participating in the Russo-Japanese and World War I. One of the brothers, Vladimir, graduated from aviation school and tragically died in 1912 during the testing of the biplane "Farman-2." In the "Sevastopol Aviation Illustrated Journal" in 1912, it was written on the occasion of his death: "Let us mentally bow to the Russian woman who raised and educated such a wonderful son."
