The Moscow State Picture Gallery named after the People's Artist of the USSR A.M. Shilov was founded in 1996 by unanimous decision of the State Duma and the Government of Moscow. The foundation for its creation was a collection of paintings and graphic works that A.M. Shilov generously donated to the country.

Alexander Maksovich Shilov, a pride of Russia, has been recognized with high state awards, and one of the planets is named in his honor. Today, the A.M. Shilov Gallery is a significant public and cultural center in Moscow, contributing to the spiritual and patriotic education of the city's residents and guests. The gallery's collection is constantly being replenished with new works by the artist and contains about 2000 pieces, which A. Shilov, People's Artist of the USSR and academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, donated to the Motherland. These paintings are the result of the selfless and devoted labor of the soul and heart of Alexander Shilov.
