The Gainsky Local History Museum named after A. Y. Sozonov, one of the largest museums in the Komi-Permyak region, was founded in 1959. Its collection includes over 11,000 items, featuring a documentary fund, an ethnographic collection, and a collection of ancient Russian art. Of particular value is the collection of icon painting, which was acquired by the museum in the 1960s from various corners of the region. It includes more than 40 icons from the Stroganov school, as well as icons from the Holy Nicholas Church, a unique monument of wooden architecture in the village of Monastery.

The museum takes pride in works of the Perm animal style, woven belts, and a collection of bells. The museum's exhibitions and displays introduce visitors to the history of the Gainsky land, the natural wealth of the northern forests, and the most significant events in the region's life.

Since 2010, the museum has been working on creating a park of wooden sculptures titled "Heroes of the Komi-Permyak Epic." Visitors, through a special program, can learn about legendary heroes considered the ancestors of the Komi-Permyaks: Kudym-Osh, Mizey, Pera-the-hero, and others.

The museum actively engages with the public, organizing creative meetings with interesting and talented individuals, workshops on making products from birch bark, paper, and other materials, as well as celebrations of the traditional folk calendar. The Gainsky Museum serves as a cultural center for the northernmost district of the Perm region.
