In the northwest of London lies the cozy neighborhood of Frognal with its namesake street. In the house at 108 Frognal, surrounded by greenery, lived the outstanding ballerina Tamara Karsavina.

In 1912 and 1918, she was the leading ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre. In 1917, Karsavina married an English diplomat and moved to London in 1918. There, she continued her successful performances in the "Russian Seasons Abroad" and with the "Russian Ballet of S. P. Diaghilev".

Karsavina shone in Diaghilev's productions, touring with the company across Europe and America. One of the most successful post-war performances was Leonid Myasin's ballet "The Three-Cornered Hat," designed by Pablo Picasso and first staged at the London Alhambra in 1917. It was later repeated in 1920 in Paris and Monte Carlo.

While remaining in ballet, Karsavina also performed with the English ensemble "Ballet Rambert" and gave solo performances at La Scala. In addition to dancing, she engaged in teaching. From 1930, for twenty years, she served as vice-president of the British Academy of Dance, where she developed a new method for recording dance movements.

In the 1920s, Karsavina appeared in several German and British films, such as "The Way to Strength and Beauty." Although she received supporting roles, she remained in demand in the art world, which was her main concern.

A memorial plaque in her honor is installed on the house where she lived. In 1930 and 1955, Karsavina held the position of vice-president of the Royal Academy of Dance in London.

Tamara Karsavina passed away on May 26, 1978, at the age of 93.
