The Metenkov House Photography Museum in Yekaterinburg is located on Karl Liebknecht Street. This building houses not only a photography museum but also a souvenir shop, a library, and the art residency "New Stories of Yekaterinburg."

Over the years, the museum has become not just a place for exhibits but a multifunctional creative space. It hosts exhibitions, educational events, workshops, lectures, and creative meetings.

Nearby the museum are attractions such as the Philharmonic, the Architectural Academy, the Musical Comedy Theater, the Church on the Blood, and the Literary Quarter.

The museum building was slated for demolition, but thanks to the efforts of Ural historians and local historians, the creation of the first photography museum in the Urals began in 1993. Since 1998, the "Metenkov House" has been a branch of the Museum of History of Yekaterinburg.

The museum is named after its last owner, photographer Veniamin Leontievich Metenkov, who was considered the best photo master in the city. He was the first in the Urals to start taking portraits with artificial lighting. His panorama of Yekaterinburg and other photographs, which have become important historical documents, are preserved in the museum.

The "Metenkov House" museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The core of the permanent exhibition consists of Metenkov's works, a private collection from local historian and photographer Evgeny Mikhailovich Biryukov, and other artifacts. There are about 10,000 exhibits in total, including photographic equipment, photographs, literature, and archival documents reflecting the history of photography in Russia.

Additionally, young and recognized masters of photography from Russia and abroad regularly exhibit their works in the museum's halls. The museum's website provides information about upcoming and past exhibitions.

The photography house also implements projects aimed at educating and developing artists in the field of photographic and visual arts.

Since 2016, the "Metenkov House" has hosted the art residency "New Stories of Yekaterinburg," a project for visual arts enthusiasts. Within this project, artists are invited to the house to participate in international projects to create installations and exhibitions over a period of two months.
