In September 1998, the Beloyarsky Historical and Local Lore Museum opened, which is a municipal cultural institution and is part of the culture committee of the Beloyarsky city administration.

The main and auxiliary funds of the museum were created based on the school museum "Memory," which was long headed by the veteran of the Great Patriotic War A. D. Berdikov. The Kazym open-air museum-park became part of the Beloyarsky Historical and Local Lore Museum.

The museum did not have its own building and was located on the first floor of the Culture and Leisure Center "Kamerton" in a repurposed space. It consisted of a permanent exhibition and an exhibition area for temporary exhibitions. Since its opening, a permanent exhibition has been formed, including themes: "Yugra, population, nature," "Beloyarsky, history, prospects," where visitors could learn about the history of the region, its nature, everyday life, traditional crafts, and the creativity of the indigenous population.

Over the years, the museum has hosted traveling, chamber, and personal exhibitions of paintings, artistic modeling, embroidery, and folk art. Competitions such as "Master of the Year," "Talent Fair," art actions, and exhibitions dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Vysotsky and the Beloyarsky poet Valentin Matveev, as well as anniversary dates of the Great Patriotic War, the pioneers, the Komsomol, the 10th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, and the 100th anniversary of the State Duma.

On October 5, 2009, by the decree of the Beloyarsky district administration, the museum was renamed MAUK "Beloyarsky Exhibition Hall," and the Kazym museum-park became the "Ethnographic Exhibition Hall in the village of Kazym."

In September 2010, the exhibition hall moved to a new location in the building of the Center for Specially Protected Areas, receiving the name eco-center "Nuvi-At." The architecture of the new building is based on the principles of a traditional northern chum house, with many intersections and layers of covering. The exhibition is planned so that visitors, ascending the steps, can gradually discover various levels of representations about the world and humanity. The use of sound and light effects is planned. The ethnographic collection reflects the culture of the Kazym Khanty and includes national clothing, household items, religious cult objects, decorative and applied arts, jewelry, and kitchen utensils. The archaeological collection, transferred by the Ural State University, includes 138 items found during the excavations of Kurtolen III and consists of products made of ceramics, bone, stone, bronze, and iron.

In September 2013, permanent exhibitions "Welcome Zone" and "Phantom" opened in the exhibition hall. Visitors are greeted by a figure of a deer, a reindeer herder, and a child in national Khanty clothing. The walls of the first floor are decorated with natural deer skins and reindeer moss, while a river winds on the floor, symbolizing life. Before entering the lower hall, there are showcases "Geology" and "Archaeology." On the second floor is the "Phantom" exhibition, which includes a sacred labaz and seven pillars-heroes, patrons of the seven elements: water, air, earth, fire, taiga, Upper and Lower worlds. In 2014, a permanent exhibition "Middle World, World of Man," a gallery, and a "Hall of Changing Exhibitions" opened. In September 2015, the exhibition "Underwater (Lower) World" was opened.

In March 2015, the MBU "Center for National Creativity" and MAUK "Beloyarsky Exhibition Hall" were reorganized into MAUK "Ethnocultural Center."
