On December 28, 1974, the museum was officially opened, and three years later it was recognized as the best among district museums. Among its visitors were delegations from Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary.

On December 23, 1980, the Ertil Museum, operating on a voluntary basis, was awarded the honorary title of "People's" by order of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR.

In 1987, the museum received a certificate of honor from the Ministry of Culture of the USSR. The museum's collections were significantly enriched with new exhibits, a major renovation was carried out, and all exhibitions were updated under the guidance of director G.V. Fedyunina. The museum became part of the culture department, and new positions were created: a research staff member, held by V.P. Troitsky until 1997, and a curator of collections.

In 1992, the school museum "Folk Crafts of Russia" became part of the Ertil Local History Museum.

In 1994, V.E. Platonov became the director of the museum, significantly enhancing the archival materials. The result of his scientific work was the book "Ertil, the Edge of Centuries," published in 2003.

In 2002, the museum staff was updated, and new forms of work were found, including cooperation with the Voronezh youth organization "BRIG." In 2003, a search team "RITM" was created, which included students from city schools No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3. The head of the "RITM" CPC and museum director G.V. Ostroukhova was awarded the medal "Patriot of Russia" in November 2007.

As a result of cooperation with the Department of Archaeology of Voronezh State University, the museum received exhibits from the Stone and Bronze Ages, such as tools and ceramics, and arranged a new exhibition "Archaeology of Our Region."

Collaboration with the regional House of Creativity allowed for the creation of a collection of folk costumes from Voronezh Province, authored by N.S. Sotnikova.

Frequent guests of the museum include war and labor veterans, as well as rear workers who share their memories with the youth.

Thanks to the support of the first deputy chairman of the regional Duma and chairman of the regional branch of the "United Russia" party, Y.T. Titov, a new exhibition hall was ceremonially opened on May 18, 2007.

The museum staff consists of four people. The museum has six halls: the nature hall, pre-Soviet history, the Civil War, the Great Patriotic War, the social sphere, and the exhibition hall.

Exhibitions open to visitors include: "The Animal World of Our Region," "Peasant Life," "The Landlord's Corner," "Weapons of the Civil War Era," "RITM," excavation results, "Education," "Healthcare," and others. The exhibition hall features works by our fellow countrymen.
