The exhibition hall 'People's Gallery' is located in an ancient building, which is an example of brick architecture from Kurgan at the end of the 19th century and reflects the architectural trends of that time. This building is now recognized as a cultural heritage site of regional significance.

Currently, it houses the Department for the Accounting and Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Government of Kurgan Region. Since October 2011, the exhibition and display department of the State Budget Institution 'Kurgan Regional Center for Folk Art', known as the exhibition hall 'People's Gallery', has been operating in this building.

Over the years, the 'People's Gallery' has hosted numerous thematic personal and group exhibitions, fairs of folk artisans' works, as well as master classes and training seminars. Regular excursions and consultations are organized here.

The exhibition hall has become a permanent and popular meeting place for amateur artists and masters of folk arts and crafts from the Kurgan region. In the 'People's Gallery', visitors can see works by authors from Kurgan and the Kurgan region. Close creative ties have been established with cities in the Ural Federal District. The patchwork sewing club 'Sunduchok' has showcased its works in the gallery, and specialists from the Chelyabinsk State Center for Folk Art organized a traveling exhibition. Kurgan artisans have participated in regional and international exhibitions in Chelyabinsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Tyumen, Sochi, Moscow, and other cities.
