Yulia Vladimirovna Drunina was born on May 10, 1924, in Moscow, a woman with an extraordinary fate who became a poetess, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, and a true idealist with a tragic destiny.

Yulia's adult life began very early. At 16, she completed nursing courses and worked in a hospital, then participated in the construction of defensive structures. During the evacuation, she lost her father, who suffered from a stroke, after which she went to the front, where she was severely wounded and at 19 was recognized as disabled. Despite this tragic turn of fate, Yulia Vladimirovna found the strength not only to continue living but also to write poetry at a higher level.

Soon, Drunina's poems began to appear in various publications, and in 1948 her first book "In a Soldier's Overcoat" was published. In the following decades, more than ten collections of her poems were published. Additionally, she completed courses at the Union of Cinematographers and soon became the wife of the famous screenwriter Alexei Yakovlevich Kapler. At that time, she was already married, but the feelings proved stronger. She divorced and left for Kapler, who also divorced for her. Together they lived for almost twenty years.

Yulia Drunina perceived the beginning of perestroika as an attempt to improve people's lives. She became a people's deputy and actively supported the rejection of dictatorship. During the GKChP coup, she participated in the defense of the White House, but the shocks proved too great, and on November 21, 1991, she took her own life, leaving a kind memory and a creative legacy.
