The Church of John the Theologian operated from 1828 to 1918 at the Oryol Theological Seminary. The chapel, located in the seminary building constructed between 1824 and 1826 according to the design of architect F.I. Petondi, was opened in 1828. In 1891, the church was moved to a specially built annex. In 1918, the Church of John the Theologian was closed. Currently, this building houses the Oryol Railway Transport Technical School, and the former church space is used as an assembly hall.
