House Church of Equal-to-the-Apostles Vladimir at the Former Vocational School of Count Orlov-Davydov in Ulyanovsk

In the new building of the Vocational School on the banks of the Sviyaga River, completed in 1902 under the guidance of architect R.A. Gödike, a place for a house church was originally planned. With funds donated by Count V.V. Orlov-Davydov, the church was established and consecrated in honor of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. A similar church with the same dedication existed in the old building of the school, where in 1888 the Charitable Brotherhood of Prince Vladimir was created.

The church in the new building functioned until December 1918, when it, like other house churches in Simbirsk, was closed. Church property was transferred to the nearest parish church of the Epiphany, which has not survived to this day, and then handed over to the church council of the village of Vozhey in the Bolshoy-Tarkhan region of the Buinsk canton. Later, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Mechanical Technical School was located in the building of the Vocational School, and the former church space was likely converted into classrooms.

Signs of the church, which was located on the second floor to the right of the entrance, are still noticeable. Its location on the western facade is marked by a tall brick attic, which was previously topped with a cross, clearly visible in photographs from the early 20th century. There may be an extension in the form of an improvised apse on the eastern side of the building, but it is difficult to confirm this without access to the closed territory of the technical school.
