The church was originally built in 1884 thanks to donations from the Orthodox Missionary Society and private benefactors, as well as with the support of the Ministry of Public Education. In 1897 and 1898, it was completely rebuilt with funds from the Simbirsk merchant N. Ya. Shatrov. The church has one altar dedicated to the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. There is one priest in the parish.
