House Church of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God in Ulyanovsk

The house church, part of the former Simbirsk Spassky Novodevichy Monastery's courtyard, is located in the city center. Restoration work on part of the courtyard is currently underway. Documents from 1663 mention an already existing monastery, allowing it to be considered contemporaneous with the city. Currently, most of the former monastery territory is occupied by the Governor's Cultural Center. Four buildings of the monastery have survived, including the stone church dedicated to the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, built in the 1860s and consecrated in 1870. For the last 45 years, one of the divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ulyanovsk region has been located in the two-story building.

In May 2015, the territorial administration of Rosimushchestvo officially transferred the building of the monastery's main block and the land plot in Pozharny Lane to the Simbirsk Metropolis, marking the beginning of the church's restoration. Prior to this, in April, Metropolitan Theophan of Simbirsk and Novospassky held a moleben in one of the preserved buildings of the women's monastery, where the house church in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God is located. On January 5, 2017, Metropolitan Anastasius of Simbirsk and Novospassky performed the consecration ceremony of the church.
