The Zolotaryov House, located in Kaluga, was one of the most luxurious buildings in the province and was often referred to as a palace. It is believed that the estate was built for receiving the emperor and members of the royal family. Currently, it is a complex that includes the main house, a wing, a carriage house, and a covered gallery.

Previously, the street where the estate is located was called Zolotaryovskaya. The Zolotaryov family traces its origins to the famous Kaluga master and silver coiner Maxim Kuzmich Zolotaryov, who also engaged in trade and had a shop in the silver row. His sons, Pyotr and Ivan Maximovich Zolotaryov, became prominent industrialists and merchants, actively conducting business in Kaluga, St. Petersburg, and abroad, including Germany. Pyotr Maximovich, a first-guild merchant and commercial advisor, became the city mayor in 1814. Despite his titles and ranks, he wore long hair cut in a bob, a large beard, and a long coat, and had a gloomy appearance. A photocopy of his portrait, engraved in Berlin and dated February 20, 1812, has been preserved.
