The Varenzov mansion, built in the late 19th century, is a beautiful example of provincial Art Nouveau. The building, with its large decorative windows and a semicircular balcony-veranda overlooking the garden, still retains its elegance and was once a true adornment of this part of the city.

This ancient stone mansion with a wooden mezzanine from the early 20th century belonged to the Honorary Citizen of Pereslavl and a member of the Pereslavl City Duma, merchant Alexei Alexandrovich Varenzov. He was known not so much for his wealth as for his charitable activities. His most significant achievement is considered to be his participation in the restoration of the bell tower of the Nikolsky Monastery and the improvement of the monastery grounds. His son, Vladimir Alexeevich Varenzov, a researcher of local flora, also made a significant contribution to the creation of the nature section of the Pereslavl Local History Museum.

The Varenzov family lived in the mansion until 1918, after which they moved to a house on the outskirts of Pereslavl. Currently, the mansion houses the administration of the National Park 'Pleshcheyevo Lake.'
