On the corner of Pokrovsky Boulevard, where Podkolokolny Lane transitions into Guest Mountain, there is an old estate with Ionic porticos, located at Pokrovsky Boulevard, house No. 18/15. In the 18th century, here, by the wall of the White City, Count Fyodor Andreyevich Tolstoy, a cousin of L.N. Tolstoy, built stone chambers to replace the previous wooden house. However, in the fire of 1812, the estate burned down, and six years later it was purchased by merchant and tea trader Andrey Sidorovich Karzinkin. On the old foundations, he erected a new house with a two-story wing in the courtyard. Only the extensive vaulted cellars, which occupy the entire area of the property, remain from the previous chambers. For almost two hundred years, representatives of one family have lived here.

Karzinkins, a well-known merchant family, owned the Bolshaya Yaroslavskaya manufactory. In Moscow, they built the 'Bolshaya Moskovskaya Hotel,' which later became part of the 'Moscow' hotel and was demolished in the 1970s, as well as several apartment buildings.

Legends about the Karzinkins circulated in Moscow, recorded and published by E.Z. Baranov in the book 'Moscow Legends.'

In the second half of the 19th century, literary and musical evenings were often held at the Karzinkin house on Pokrovsky Boulevard, attended by A.N. Ostrovsky and K.S. Stanislavsky (Alekseev).

At the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, the house was owned by Andrey Alexandrovich Karzinkin. His daughter, the talented artist Elena Andreevna, married the writer Telezhov. According to family tradition, their acquaintance took place nearby, on Pokrovsky Boulevard.

In 1913, the Telezhovs moved from Chistoprudny Boulevard to Pokrovsky, occupying the first floor of the old Karzinkin house. Here, the famous 'Telezhov Wednesdays' continued, a literary circle that emerged in 1899. Many well-known writers, the cream of Russian literature at the beginning of the 20th century, were regular participants in these meetings. In Telezhov's cozy apartment, M. Gorky read his play 'At the Bottom,' S. Rachmaninoff played the piano, and F. Shalyapin invited friends to listen to him here, saying: 'Listen to me here, not in the Bolshoi Theatre, where I sing for money!' Artists A.M. Vasnetsov, I.I. Levitan, and K.K. Pervukhin often visited.

The second floor was occupied by Elena Andreevna's brother, Alexander Andreyevich Karzinkin, with his wife, ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, the Italian Adelina Djuri.

After 1917, the house was confiscated, but the family was 'graciously' left with one room of 52 square meters. A large family of Telezhovs-Karzinkins settled here. The estate turned into a communal apartment, even the cellars became living rooms. For a few more years, until 1922, the 'Telezhov Wednesdays' continued, but then they faded away. Shalyapin and Bunin went abroad, and the new life scattered the participants to different sides.

Meetings of members of the city commission 'History of Moscow Streets' of the Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Moscow were often held in Telezhov's apartment. It is not surprising that in 1980, the Moscow City Organization of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments moved to the first floor of the house on Pokrovsky Boulevard, next to the writer's apartment.

The writer's descendants still live in the old apartment, which has become a unique museum in a residential space. Almost everything has been preserved as it was during the 'Telezhov Wednesdays': paintings in antique frames, a gramophone by the fireplace, a cane left by Ivan Bunin, the sheets of his 'Dark Alleys,' a collection of feathers gathered by Nikolai Dmitrievich, and a pre-revolutionary typewriter that he worked on. The descendants of Telezhov, friendly and kind people, live here, although their surname has been mistakenly written with the letter 'e' and with the stress on the first syllable, Telezhevs, since the 1920s.
